Age is an Asset

Age is an asset even though many over 50s have been brainwashed into believing that they are too old to work. You may have been edged out by devious means.

• Maybe your contract hasn’t been renewed – and you thought you had a secure job ‘for life’.

• Maybe you’ve been made redundant – and noticed that most of those who are being kept on are younger than you.

• Or you’ve been off sick and feel that you’ve lost credibility

• Perhaps you have reached retirement age and it is proving impossible to gain employment which suits your qualifications and experience By becoming self employed and running your own business none of the above will matter to you. Now you can turn things around

• You are not ‘too old’ – you are mature

• You have plenty of experience both in your profession and in life.

• You may have spent time out of work due to sickness but this has given you time to think what you could do built around your individual circumstances

• Retirement often brings the urge to top up pensions by building an extra income.

• Retirement means that if you feel fit and well enough to run your own business then you can go ahead and do it.

Deciding to run a business means you have choice. You can keep choosing and refining. You make choices which suit you and your capabilities.

If you are still in your 50s you may like to consider the possibility of starting up a business alongside your conventional job. This will give you an ‘escape route’ when you judge the time to be right.
