Direct Marketing
First, what is Direct Marketing? Well as I like to see it – it comes down to the person offering the products or services marketing directly to the consumer. It is getting in front of existing or prospective customers in order to kindle a desire for the offer. The term can be used in broad or narrow concept. For example, you could be advertising in a magazine hoping to hit your target audience. This is rather broad in that it is difficult to catch the attention and stimulate a response. On the other hand you may personally speak with an individual with whom you have set up some kind of rapport. This is narrow targeting and can often be seen immediately whether it will have any effect. It takes in every level of introducing a product to a prospect. Only after this is complete can any selling take place. The process of selling goods is often not included in the term Marketing because strictly speaking it is a separate activity. However, it is the required end result so I am going to include it here. Direct Marketing is the promotion of products or services in a way that encourages an individual relationship between the person or business providing the product or service and the person (or business) who is the actual consumer. Because Direct Marketing so often comes down to person to person relationships it is actually the provider who is being marketed. You are not marketing computers or bicycles, house decorating or consultancy. You are marketing YOU. Now in order to achieve good results the Marketer must follow a process of various activities. It is my intention to include in this part of the website a whole range of activities which should help with advice and clarification. I shall list the pages here.
