Training in Network Marketing

Training is essential no matter what occupation you choose. Network Marketing is no different in this respect. The biggest difference is that the training takes place while the income is already being made.

The Product

When first joining a company it is usual to learn about the products. The best way to do this is to use them yourself. You then have personal opinions to express. This is better than any amount of advertising.

The company will issue all necessary details about the products/services being offered together with pamphlets and, more and more often these days, a web site.

The leaders among the network of distributors will put on meetings at which you can see and perhaps try samples. This first training will cause you to become enthusiastic about the products. If you don't, then this is not the right company for you.

The Business

Learn everything you can about how the company works. Know the history of both the company and its products. Of interest also are the people who run the company - those who make the decisions.

Try to have a general understanding of the compensation plan. Don't worry too much if you find this hard going. Much of it only becomes clear as you work your way up in the network.

You

Unlike other types of business course, Network Marketing Training gives over a high percentage of learning time to Personal Development. So we often find that distributors will change from shy, retiring types, lacking in confidence into self assured outgoing people.

This Personal Development/Business Training is necessary for several reasons which I shall go through now.

Business Skills

The great majority of us have spent our working lives within quite small niches. This has led us to having a narrow view of the business or profession we have worked in. There have always been others or even other departments to organise various parts of the business. We haven't needed to know what goes on in these areas.

As an independent distributor we have to be able to run all 'departments'. So, of course, there will be much to learn. Don't let this worry you. Within the network there will be people who will help you. Always keep in mind that the network survives because of the supporting nature of its members.

For yourself you will need to learn something about personal accounts and taxes. That is, anything which your employer has arranged for you now becomes your responsibility.

Self discipline

Independent distributors are attracted by the fact that there will be no 'boss'. Great - freedom. This can also be a disadvantage for some. If you have worked for 30-40 years for a boss you may find it difficult to work for yourself. There is no-one to tell you what to do and when.

So it is essential to learn how to manage ourselves within the time available to us. Often the more time we have the more difficult it is to be strict with ourselves.

We also need to push ourselves into undertaking the tasks we don't like doing. When it is necessary to do everything connected with the business we will always find that we prefer some tasks to the detriment of others.

Confidence Building

Some of us have more confidence than others. It is very helpful to investigate and learn about ourselves. We've probably concentrated in the past on other people and their needs. We are much more use to others when we learn about ourselves. Once we start delving within and finding out who we are we become more comfortable with ourselves. This is what leads to the self confidence.

I've seen people blossom within a network. They change from the timid 'mouse' type into people who end up giving talks about the business to a room full of people. All this because they, with the help of others, take time to learn.

Plan for the Future

Most people make no attempt to plan out their future. Ask around. Yes people may give woolly answers - "I want to be rich". But what do they mean? How will they achieve this?

Within Network Marketing one of the components in training is to learn how to set goals. Then work out how to move towards them.

This is, of course, tied up with motivation. A great deal of thought is given to this because without a motive there is no point in doing anything. However, we all need specific motivation to get us going and to keep going.
